DORIS GREEN 1933 2007 Doris Green, 74, of Coffeyville, Kansas finally found peace at home after a long illness on the 24th of March 2007. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, First Sergeant retired Earl R. Dick Green; daughter, Colonel retired Karen Seipp and son-in-law, John Seipp, of San Antonio, TX; son Richard Green of Bartlesville, OK; sister, Judy Andres and brother-in-law Gary Andres of Coffeyville; grandsons, Mark Seipp and his wife Carolyn of Denver, CO; John Green of Skiatook, OK; Joe Green and wife Adrea of Tulsa, OK and grandchildren, Ayden and Elora Seipp of Denver, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents, Holland Jack and Doris Melton of Coffeyville, her brothers, Dean Melton of Independence and Ralph Melton of Coffeyville and three tiny sons who died at birth. She was born in Coffeyville, KS. After attending Field Kindley Memorial High School, she followed her husband around the world as an Army wife. Full of energy and easily the smartest member of the family, she rose to managerial positions whenever she worked outside the home. She served as aGray Lady hospital volunteer in Army hospitals and NCO Wives Club President. She made every Army Post a loving home for her family and even grew gardens of zinnias and marigolds at her husbands rifle and grenade range in Missouri. Upon returning to Coffeyville, she joined the staff of the Coffeyville Sears store in the 1960s and was the assistant manager until her retirement in the 1970s. Until her most recent illness, she loved reading, bird watching and established what will now be a family tradition of baking and incredible assortment of cookies at Christmas. The family would like to thank Dr. Allen Gillis and the staff of the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center, the Cancer Center and the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice for their loving care in the last months of her life. There will only be a private family visitation held. Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 29, 2007 at the Fairview Cemetery, Coffeyville, KS. Family and friends will gather at the Graveside prior to service time. Pastor Mike Graham will be officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice co Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home.
