Doris Wenona Pursley 1917 - 2006 Doris Wenona Pursley, age 88, Coffeyville, Kansas resident passed away on Monday, February 27, 2006 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center, Coffeyville, Kansas. Mrs. Pursley was born September 21, 1917 in Walnut Grove, Missouri to Orlin Paul and Iva Marcella Harman Riley. She grew-up in and graduated from Walnut Grove High School 1934. On June 23, 1935 she married E.J. Doc Pursley in Ash Grove, Missouri. E.J. and Doris recently celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary. Following their marriage the couple lived in Missouri where Mr. Pursley worked on a dairy farm. In 1940 the couple moved to Coffeyville where her husband was employed at Ludowici-Celadon Tile Company, Multiscope and Co-op Refinery from where he retired in 1979 as a boiler operator. Mrs. Pursley worked as a dental assistant from 1953 until 1960. She then became a homemaker. She is a member of Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church of Coffeyville. Survivors include Husband, E.J. Doc Pursley of the home in Coffeyville; 2 grandsons, Kurt Hoobing, Overland Park, KS.; Heath Hoobing, Roeland Park, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 daughter, Sara Jo Hoobing, 1 brother, Harman. Calling hoursVisitation: The body will lie in state on Wednesday, March 1, 2006 from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Chapel. Memorial contributions may be given to Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church, Coffeyville, Kansas co Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 2, 2006 at Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave, Coffeyville, Kansas 67337. Pastor Wayne Martin of the Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church of Coffeyville will be presiding. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery Coffeyville, Kansas.
