Dorothy Elizabeth Armstrong Bonham, 91, Coffeyville, Kansas, passed away Saturday morning, September 25, 2010 in the Cambridge Unit of Windsor Place Care Center, Coffeyville. Dorothy was born October 8, 1918 at Lenapah, Oklahoma to George Willard Armstrong and Gertrude Wright Armstrong. She grew up in Coffeyville, graduating Field Kindley High School in 1936, where she was a charter member of the Drum and Bugle Corps. Dorothy married Kenneth R. Bonham on March 28, 1937 in Coffeyville. The Bonhams made their home in Coffeyville and Dorothy worked for J.C. Penney and later, Food Town, until her retirement in 1980. She was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Coffeyville. Her survivors include one son, Richard Bonham of Osawatomie, Kansas two daughters, Sharon Pratt of Independence, Kansas and Kenny Kay Grundy of Tulsa, Oklahoma seven grandchildren, Lisa Russ of Nevada, Missouri, Leslie Stoltenow of Wichita, Kansas, Brad Grundy of Tulsa, Curt Grundy of Cleora, Oklahoma, Erin Bonham of Dallas, Texas, Megan Cunningham and Sara Bonham, both of Round Rock, Texas ten greatgrandchildren, Ryan Russ of Kansas City, Missouri, Kelsi Stoltenow of Omaha, Nebraska, Taylor Tyler of Wichita, Kate, Beth and Meg Grundy, each of Tulsa, Josh and Jared Grundy of Cleora and Evan and Rhett Cunningham of Round Rock as well as other relatives and many friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents by her husband, Kenneth on April 15, 1995 and by a sister, Maxine Speary. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at PenwellGabel FordWulfBruns Chapel with the Reverends Lee Passwater and Steve Russ, officiating. Interment will be in Coffeyvilles Fairview Cemetery under the direction of PenwellGabel Funeral Home amp Crematory. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 28, 9am8pm, and Wednesday, 9 a.m.1 p.m. as the casket will remained closed afterwards. Those who wish may give to Trinity United Methodist Church in memory of Dorothy and donations may be left at the funeral home.
