Dorothy Groves

Dorothy Ruth Groves, 95, of Tyro, Kansas died Friday, May 1, 2009 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. She was born October 15, 1913, in Coffeyville, Kansas to Wilbur Short and Mary Elizabeth Blakslee Short. Dorothy was married to Henry Groves in Coffeyville, Kansas on July 7, 1933. She was a member of the Tyro Christian Church and was a homemaker who loved simplicity and her family. She was preceded in death by her parents and thirteen siblings, and her husband Henry in 1985. Dorothy is survived by one sister-in-law Geraldine Short and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Dorothy Ruth Groves will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor David Bycroft officiating. Dorothy will lie in state at the Funeral Home from noon until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 4 and Tuesday morning prior to services. Entombment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society in care of the Funeral Home. Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home of Coffeyville, Kansas is in charge of arrangements.
