Dorothy Evelyn Kimbrel, 95, rural Coffeyville, Kansas died Sunday, October 9, 2011 at the home of her son, Darrel. Dorothy was born September 4, 1916 at Dearing, Kansas to Alvin Antle and Maude Epperly Antle. She grew up and spent the entirety of her life in Montgomery County. Dorothy married Terrel C. Kimbrel on January 25, 1935 at Miami, Oklahoma. Mr. Kimbrel preceded his wife in death on August 31, 1976. Dorothy had worked as a cook for Person District 77 School and later was a dietician at Coffeyville Hospital. She also held retail jobs at Reeds Clothiers and Old Yellow Front. Dorothy was a member of Dearing United Methodist Church and enjoyed making ceramics, square dancing and oil painting landscapes. She was a member of the Black Dogs Camping Group and loved to roller skate and gardening and was especially fond of her cat and companion, Mamie. Survivors are two sons, Mel Kimbrel and his wife, Micki of Wichita, Kansas and Darrel Kimbrel of Independence, Kansas two daughters, Delores Ferguson of Coffeyville and Pat Smith of rural Coffeyville one brother, John R. Antle and his wife, Jean of Mulvane, Kansas 15 grandchildren 34 greatgrandchildren 24 greatgreatgrandchildren and one greatgreatgreat granddaughter as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband and parents by a daughter, Lois Wilkus by four brothers, Harold, Earl, Jiggs and Don Antle and by one sister, Catherine Holmes. Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Thursday, October 13, 2011 at PenwellGabel FordWulfBruns Chapel with Pastor Brad Sanders officiating. Committal will follow in Coffeyvilles Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of PenwellGabel Funeral Home amp Crematory. Visitation will be Wednesday, 9 a.m. 8 p.m., with the family receiving guests at the funeral home from 78 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Hospice Care of Kansas and may be left at the funeral home.
