Dorothy M. Smith 1927 2007 Dorothy M. Smith, age 79, entered into rest on February 4, 2007 at the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center, Coffeyville, Kansas. She was born October 18, 1927 to Ed Gatlin and Betty Lubyinesky Gatlin in Gonzales, Texas. She was raised and worked in Gonzales County, Texas until she met Shelley Bill Smith. They were united in marriage on February 4, 1946 in Coffeyville, Kansas. They made their home in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, moving to the Wann, Oklahoma area three years ago. Dorothy worked at the H.D. Lee Garment Factory in Cherryvale and later at Halliburton Services of Coffeyville until they closed. She was a member of the Kansas Old Time Fiddlers, Pickers and Singers, Mound Valley Chapter. Survivors include her husband, Bill Smith, Wann, Oklahoma; daughter, Patsy Brooks and husband, Dale, of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma; son, George Smith of Wann, Oklahoma; grandson, David Clark of Irvine, California; granddaughter, Pamela Dotson of Wann, Oklahoma; great grandsons, Jesse, Dalton and Billy Dotson, all of Wann, Oklahoma; sister, Ruby Vernon, Sequin, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Olan Gatlin and son, Tony Smith. Visitation calling hours: Mrs. Smith will lie in state on Thursday, February 8, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2007 at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave. in Coffeyville. Rev. Ginny Davis of the Trinity Believers Church of Independence, Kansas will be officiating. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabels Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Coffeyville. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that Memorial contributions be made in honor of Mrs. Smith to the organization of the donors choice.
