Dorothy Lee Tieaskie passed away on September 14, 2016 at Windsor Place in Coffeyville, Kansas.
Dorothy was born September 20, 1929 to Clarence and Bessie Lee (Bean) Martin at home in Coffeyville, Kansas with her grandmother as midwife. She graduated from Wann, Oklahoma, as the Valedictorian of her class. After graduation she taught school at a small country school. She then went to work at Phillips Petroleum on March 13, 1951 until her retirement on October 1, 1985 with 34 years of service. She married Mitchell Tieaskie and they shared many wonderful years together in Dewey, Oklahoma where they had built a home together until his passing on April 24, 1984. Dorothy continued to live there until moving to Windsor Place on July 6, 2012.
Dorothy enjoyed shopping, she would go to Tulsa every Saturday and Mitchell would accompany her; he would sit and watch the games somewhere in the mall. Then on Sunday they always came "Up Home" to work in the garden and help with anything her folks needed done. Her favorite thing was to clean and have things look nice. She hated to cook, while growing up Granny wouldn't let anyone cook because things were so scarce that you couldn't waste anything, so she loved to clean. Dorothy was very proud of her home and you had to take a tour of it every time you went there. Her favorite hobbies were crocheting and needlepoint. She made so many Afghans of many colors.
Christmas was her favorite time of the year, she would shop for all her nieces and nephews. She loved giving gifts more than anything, it gave her great joy. Everyone enjoyed gathering at Granny and Gramps house for Christmas Eve, a great time was had by all.
Dorothy is survived by her sister, Thelma Carson, sister-in-law, Betty Martin, nieces and nephews, Jeannie Martin, Arlene Brothers and husband Dob, Tim Carson and wife Charlotte, Rocky Meek and wife Debi, Marty Meek and wife Audrey, Linda Frazier and husband Mitch, and Terri Dobson and husband Jerry; many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
