Rural Caney resident Earl Whitey Thompson entered into eternal rest on Sunday November 11, 2007 at Copan, Oklahoma. He was 77. Earl was born March 8, 1930 in Havana, Kansas to Earl and Alice Thompson. He grew up and attended school in Havana and graduated from Havana High School. He entered the United States Military. He married Mary Ann Howard on November 20, 1953 in Caney. She preceded him in death. Survivors include: Caregiver and companion Lizzie Foreman of Copan, Oklahoma, a son Craig Thompson of Caney; daughter Penny Stephens of Dewey, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Jewel Stephens of Skiatook, Oklahoma and Justin Stephens of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; two great-grandchildren Riley Castro McCowan of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Jenna Drake Of Skiatook, Oklahoma; sisters, Nicky Melaney of Cherryvale, Waunetta Atkinson of Manhattan, Kansas and Geneva Dadman of Texas. and a brother Ivan Thompson of Havana. He was preceded in death by his wife, and a son Danny Ray Thompson. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, November 16, 2007 in the Sunnyside Cemetery at Caney under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Home of Coffeyville. Freinds may call on Thursday from 9 am until 9 pm at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Home to sign the guest register.
