Edna resident Earlene Marie Morgan entered into eternal rest on Sunday, September 30, 2007 in Joplin, Missouri. She was 74. Earlene was born October 20, 1932 in Caney, Kansas to William Earl and Edna Viola Sterling Gordon. She attended Edna High School and later, she married Floyd Orren Morgan on May 14, 1954. The couple were married in Bartlesville and they made their home in Edna. They owned and operated the Morgan Oil Company and the OK Propane Company, located on highway 166 for over twenty years. In 1976 they sold those businesss and they purchased a farm and operated the Morgan Trenching Company. Survivors include two sons, William Earl and wife, Debra Morgan of Coffeyville, Melvin Floyd Morgan of Cherokee, Kansas; a daughter, Jan Marie and husband, Don Connery of Edna. The grandchildren are, Travis Morgan of Joplin, Missouri, Craig and wife, Sara Connery of Chicago, Illinois, Marie Morgan of Coffeyville, Melanie and husband, Don Spankuch of Houston, Texas and Tracy Dennis of Joplin, Missouri. There is one great-grandchild Trenton Dennis. Surviving brothers are Willard, Marvin, Tom and Tim Gordon and a sister Marybell Hallubaugh. She was preceded in death by her parents William Earl and Viola Gordon and her husband, Floyd Morgan. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 in the North Edna Cemetery at Edna, Kansas. Pastor Charles Evans will officiate. Friends may call on Tuesday from 9 am until 9 pm at the Penwell-Gable Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Home to sign the guest register. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-8 pm.
