Edgar Smith

Edgar Lloyd Smith, 91, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Windsor Place in Coffeyville. Edgar was born on January 19, 1921 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Ralph and Ella Robinson Smith. He grew up in the Coffeyville area where he has spent his entire life. On June 22, 1940 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Merriam A. Shamblin in Independence, Kansas. Edgar worked for ParMac for 19 years where he worked sandblasting and painting tank cars. He enjoyed working on small engines and lawn mowers, playing his harmonica and other music and most of all he enjoyed his time with his family and grandchildren. Surviving to honor his memory are his wife of 71 years, Merriam of the home sons, Edgar Smith, Jr. and wife Glenda of Galveston, Texas, Everett Smith and wife, Betty, Elden Smith, Ivan Smith and wife, Ruth, Ronald Smith and wife, Debbie all of Coffeyville, Kansas daughters, Phyllis Sisco, Sharon Yeubanks and husband, Carroll all of Coffeyville, Kansas 45 grandchildren, 99 great grandchildren and 52 greatgreat grandchildren five brothers and six sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Ella and a son, Donald Smith. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at PenwellGabel FordWulfBruns Chapel in Coffeyville, Kansas. Friends may call on Friday, February 3, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home to sign the guest register. Family will greet friends Friday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society these may be left with the funeral home.
