Edith Stapleton Moon Coffeyville resident Edith Fern Moon entered eternal rest on Friday, April 20, 2007 in Coffeyville. She was 92. She was born June 2, 1914 in Coffeyville, KS to Conaway Charles and Eunice Vivery Scott Baker. She graduated from Field Kindley High School in 1932 and from Coffeyville Community College in 1934 On June 15, 1935 she married Johnny Ross Stapleton. They had two children, Ronald Ross and Rita Rae. In 1952 they moved to New Orleans, LA where they operated a Dairy Queen for two years. In 1954 they moved to Jonesboro, AR where they owned and operated a Dairy Queen for two years. In 1956 they returned to Coffeyville and started their own business, Stapletons Products. As their business grew they had to expand and moved to five different locations, where they manufactured numerous items invented by Johnny and sold throughout the U.S., Canada and over seas, the last location being 801 W. 8th. Upon their retirement the company sold and moved to MN. On August 23, 1980 she married Micah Moon of Owasso, OK. They enjoyed their retirement years together in Coffeyville. Edith was a member of the First Assembly of God Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years as well as being a Youth Counselor. She held memberships in the following organizations: Christian Widows Fellowship and past President, Lydia Missionary Ministries, Girl Guard Leader of the Salvation Army, Longfellow School PTA and past President, Life member of the PTA, Matinee Musical, Business and Professional Womens Organization, High-Five, Night Writers Club and AARP. Survivors include a son Ronald Stapleton of Coffeyville, a daughter Rita Pearson of Springtown, TX, six Grandchildren, thirteen Great-grandchildren and three Great-Great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Orville Baker, first husband Johnny Stapleton, second husband Micah Moon, and a great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, April 23, 2007 at First Assembly of God Church. Pastor James Crandall will officiate and burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Home of Coffeyville.
