Edna Duvall, age 98 passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2011 after living a fulfilling Christian life. Edna was born February 2, 1913 in Greenforrest, Arkansas to Velcie David and Ruth M Walker Pennington. She attended school in Greenforrest. Her father died when she was young and the family moved to Chanute, Kansas. On October 28, 1931 in Chanute, KS, she married Lawrence R. Duvall the family lived there until they moved to LeRoy. In 1949, the family came to Coffeyville where Lawrence was a foreman for the Katy Railroad. After Lawrence retired from the railroad, he and Edna both completed their GED at the local junior college at the age of 60 years old. To celebrate their 50th Anniversary, Lawrence and Edna went to Israel. They loved it so much, they returned a few years later. Edna was a homemaker, childsitter and seamstress. She belonged to a HD Unit and Friendship Club. For many years, she helped with election board and was very active with Coffeyville Citizen Center. She quilted with the Dorcas Quilting group at First Assembly of God in Coffeyville, where she was also a member. Survivors include one daughter, Pat DeVilliers of Coffeyville two daughterinlaws, Jane Duvall of Alamogordo, NM and Carol Duvall of Coffeyville one sister Dixie Ogle of Mecca, CA 7 grandchildren 14 great grandchildren and 2 greatgreat granddaughters. Edna was preceded in death by her parents her husband of 67 years Lawrence three sons Roy, Jack and Norman one soninlaw James DeVilliers one grandson David Duvall one sister Lois Stowell one brother Clyde Pennington Jr. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 5, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at PenwellGabel FordWulfBruns Chapel in Coffeyville. Brother James Wright will officiate. Friends may call on Thursday, August 4, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home to sign the guest register. The family suggests memorials to be given to Gideon International or Feedachild through First Assembly of God Church or Harry Hines Memorial Hospice. Contributions may be left at the PenwellGabel Funeral Chapel.
