Edward Lee Brooks 1919 2007 Coffeyville resident Edward Lee Brooks entered into eternal rest on June8, 2007. He was 88. On March 27, 1919 he was born in Wann, Oklahoma to Robert Lee Brooks and Mabel Elma Roberts. He was a 1936 graduate of Wann High School, Wann, Oklahoma. Mr. Brooks entered into the Army of the United States and served during WWII in the Aleutian Islands and Alaska. He entered October 4, 1940 Tulsa, Oklahoma and was honorably discharged July 2, 1945 in Camp Chaffee, Arkansas. On May 24, 1946 he married Betty Jean Taylor in Coffeyville, Kansas. They made their home in Coffeyville. Lee retired from Manley Transfer Trucking in 1981 after many years of service. Life member of the VFW Post 1022 and American Legion Post 20 both of Coffeyville. Survivors include: Wife, Betty Brooks; 3 daughters, Laura Robson Robert, Lelia Polk; Rita Hanna David all of Coffeyville. 8 grandchildren 13 great grandchildren 5 Sisters, Elsie Fast, Ruth Walker, Ida Lee Rosson, Mary Heale all of Coffeyville and Jo Browning, Overland Park, Ks; 1 brother, Robert Brooks of Coffeyville. He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 sisters and 1 brother. Calling hoursvisitation: Mr. Brooks will lie in state on Monday, June 11, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel. Rev. Ford Hall will be officiating.
