EDWARD MILLER 1913-2006 Edward Virgil Miller passed away February 21, 2006 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center at the age of 92. He was born March 26, 1913, in Independence, Kansas to James Emry Miller and Alice Mae Couk, but lived most of his life in Coffeyville. He married Bessie Elaine Abshier August 30, 1937, at the Independence, Kansas Presbyterian Church office. They have celebrated 68 years together. Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Emry and Elbert, and one great-grandchild. After graduating from Field Kindley Memorial High School in 1931, Mr. Miller was self-employed as a painting contractor until retirement in 1983 at the age of 70. He served on the Coffeyville Hospital Board for 12 years and was a 45 year member of Coffeyville Lions Club, serving as Club President 1964-65. He served as cub scout and scout master in the 1950s and was assistant coach for the Field Kindley tennis team in the 1990s. He is a 60 year member of the Coffeyville First United Methodist Church and Keystone Sunday School class and taught Sunday School for 20 years. Mr. Miller was an avid sports fan, playing tennis and golf and attending all Red Ravens and Golden Tornado events. He and wife, Elaine, enjoyed camping and traveled in every state of the United States including Hawaii and Alaska, Mexico, Canada, Europe and Egypt. Survivors include his wife Elaine of the home, Larry Miller and wife Nancy of Poughkeepsie, New York; Donna Justice and spouse Bill of Muskogee, Oklahoma; Dixie O39;Connelland spouse Pat and Cheryl George and spouse David of Coffeyville, 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandsons. Calling hours will be from 1:00pm 9:00pm, Friday, February 24, 2006 at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, Kansas. Graveside Services will be held Saturday, February 25, 2006 at 1:00pm in the Fairview City Cemetery, Coffeyville, Kansas. Friends may gather at the gravesite.
