Edna, Kansas resident Effie Arlene Pruette died on January 13, 2008 in Coffeyville. She was 95. She was born February 26, 1912 in Craig County, Oklahoma to William P. and Sara M. Holton Storm. She grew up and attended school in Edna, Kansas. On May 4, 1929 she married Arthur Buck Stine in Independence, Kansas. He preceded her in death on December 19, 1963. The couple made their home at Edna, Kansas. Arlene was a home maker and worked as a cook. She also worked part time for the Edna Funeral Home. She was an Edna resident most of her life and was one of the oldest members of the First Baptist Church at Edna. She was a life long member of the Eastern Star also served as the secertary and was a Worthy Matron, and a Charter member of the Echoes. Where she served as the first President. She later married Harold R. Pruette on May 11, 1976. Arlene enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, she loved to travel and sing, and taking long drives with her husband Harold. Survivors include her husband, Harold R. Pruette of Coffeyville; children, JoAnn Long of Coffeyville, Beverly A. Kimrey of Edna, Kansas and Judy Lowery of Danbury, Connecticut; ten grandchildren, sixteen great -grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Buck; brothers, Frank and Bill Storm; daughter, Virginia Holland; granddaughter, Leslie Ann Long. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2008 in the First Baptist Church in Edna. Pastor Chuck Evans will officiate and burial will follow in the North Edna Cemetery under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home of Coffeyville. Friends may call on Wednesday from 9 am until 9 pm at the funeral home to sign the guest register. Family will greet friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9 p.m. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Edna, Kansas these may be left with the funeral home.
