Eldon E. Carney of Edna, Kansas died Thursday, April 17, 2008 in Joplin, Missouri. He was 77. Eldon was born October 4th, 1930 in rural Edna, Kansas to Ira R. and Mildred T. Triebel Carney. He grew up and attended school in Edna, graduating from Labette County Community High School at Altamont, Kansas in 1948. He served in the United States Air Force and worked for the aircraft industry in Wichita, Kansas before returning to the Edna area in 1957. In 1953 he married Ina Mae Williams of Chetopa, Kansas. They
orced in 1983. On March 25th, 1990 he married Jeannie Eddings in Altamont, Kansas. Eldon worked at Continental Can for short time. He farmed and owned Carney Manufacturing Company, specializing in cattle feeding equipment. He enjoyed working, tending his farm, designing farm equipment, gardening, spending time with his grandchildren and his little dog Maggie. He is survived by his wife, of the home; children, Karla Menaugh of LaGrange, KY, Karen Dufoe of Edna, KS, Stephen Carney of Pittsburg, Kansas; step-sons, Fred Eddings of Washington, NJ, Tim Eddings of Cheney, KS, Brian Eddings of McLoud, OK; twelve grandchildren; brother, Marvin Carney of Edna, KS. Eldon was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marilyn Baker. Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 21, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Edna, Kansas. Pastor Chuck Evans will officiate. Internment will follow at the North Edna Cemetery in Edna, Kansas. Friends may call on Sunday, April 20, 2008 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas to sign the guest register. Family will greet friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church of Edna, Kansas in care of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home.
