Elic Burks, Sr.

Elic Henry Burks, Sr. 1922 2007 Edna, Kansas resident, Elic Henry Burks, Sr. entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 26, 2007 in Coffeyville. He was 84. He was born September 10, 1922 to LaFayette and Jessie Spradlin Burks in Hemet, California. He was a 1940 graduate of San Jacinto, California. After high school Elic entered into the United States Army Air Corp. He was a WWII veteran and was stationed in Independence, Kansas. On March 19, 1944 he married Ruby Spencer in Independence, Kansas. They moved to Hemet, California where Elic was a parts manager for Ford Motor Company. He later retired as a Chef in California. They later made their home in Edna, Kansas. Memberships include: Elm Christian Church of Edna. He was a Exultant Ruler for the Elks Lodge and was a Mason in the Masonic Lodge in Hemet, California. Survivors include his wife, Ruby Burks of the home in Edna; one son, Hank Burks, St. Joseph, MO, two step-daughters, Andrea Woodworth, Santa Cruz, CA; Darlene Rexwinkle, Edna, KS. 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Ray Burks, one brother and one sister. Cremation has taken place and there will be no services.
