Ellis Cotton G. Adair 1930 2006 Ellis Cotton G. Adair, age 75, passed away on April 17, 2006 at the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center, Coffeyville, Kansas. He was born October 25, 1930 in Derby, Montana to Eldridge and Fern Ketchum Adair. He was very proud of his Delaware Indian Heritage. As a child he moved to the Alluwe, Oklahoma area. He was a 1951 graduate of the Alluwe High School. He lettered in Basketball. He served in the United States Army and the Army National Guard from 1947 1954. He attained rank of SGT. Cotton worked for Continental Can, He was a School Bus Driver for Dearing Schools, he also worked for Otasco in Sales for many years amp; Western Publishing. Cotton retired from Dixon Industries in 1994. Cotton was very active in the community with recreational sports, where he coached girls and boys basketball and softball in Dearing. He also played and Umpired Fast Pitch Softball for many years. He was a staunch St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and Oklahoma Sooners sports fan. He worked the chains at many Field Kindley Memorial High School Nado and Coffeyville Community College Red Ravens Football games. Cotton was a very Avid Bowler. He bowled Monday and Wednesday night Mens League for many years. He attended Central Church of the Nazarene, Coffeyville, KS. On June 8, 1974 he married Joyce A. Leonard in Coffeyville, Kansas. She survives of the home. Other survivors include: One son, Michael Adair Marcia, Coffeyville, Two step-daughters, Lisa Walthall Clay and Angie Davis both of Coffeyville. One step-son, David Coughenour Joe, Avondale, Az.; Eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Two brothers, Bill and Kenneth Adair both of Chelsea, Ok.; Two sisters, Lois Joseph and Mary Hanna of McKinney, Tx. He was preceded in death by his parents. Calling hoursvisitation: The body will lie in state on Friday, April 21, 2006 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday evening. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 22, 2006 at the Central Church of the Nazarene in Coffeyville, Kansas. Reverend Dan Strange, Reverend Dean Thompson and Reverend Dave Warren will be presiding. Burial will follow in the Fairview City Cemetery, Coffeyville, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be left to the Central Nazarene Church or CRMC Foundation co Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home.
