Elmer L. Rush 1917 2006 Elmer L. Rush, age 88, passed away early Saturday morning, July 29, 2006 at the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center, Coffeyville, Kansas. He was born August 21, 1917 South of Iola, Kansas in Allen County to Ernest and Ruth Cornell Rush. He was born and raised on the old Rush farm located South of Neosho Falls. He was a 1935 graduate of Neosho Falls High School. He served in the Army of the United States during WWII and was based in England for 4 years. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Mess Sgt. On June 27, 1948 he married Eva Heinlein in Chanute, Kansas. She survives of the home. Mr. Rush was a lineman with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company with 35 years of service. He celebrated his retirement in 1982. Hobbies included: Vegetable gardener, hunting, fishing. He served with the Interstate Fair and Rodeo Association as grounds chairman. Elmer was a member of the First Baptist Church, VFW Post 1022 amp; American Legion Post 20, where he had 60 years of continuous membership. All of Coffeyville. He was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Survivors inlcude: his wife, Eva of the home in Coffeyville; 2 daughters, Mabel Irene Clark and husband Michael D., Coffeyville, Ks.; Anita Rae Grove and husband Earl of Coffeyville, Ks. 3 grandsons, Douglas Clark, Bradley Clark amp; Christopher E. Grove Esq.; 2 great grandsons, Logan Bradley Clark amp; Cody Thomas Clark. 1 sister, Ernestine Braswell and husband Donald of Wichita, Ks. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother Eugene Rush. Mr. Rush will lie in state on Thursday, August 3, and Friday, August 4, 2006 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 5, 2006 at the First Baptist Church, Coffeyville, KS. Dr. Wayne Norton will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute, Kansas. Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. in Chanute.
