Elsie Mae Cornett passed away Saturday, June 14, 2008 at her home. She was born on April 28, 1928 in Coffeyville, KS to Louis Conway and Nettie Oder. She has one sister, Lillie Vickers of Miami, OK. She was a beautiful and loving mother to seven children; four sons, William David Cornett of Orting, WA, Roger Dale Cornett of Skiatook, OK, Randy Franklin Cornett of Coffeyville, and Tony Louis Cornett of Coffeyville, and three daughters, Patricia Ann Upton of Coffeyville, Mary Susanne Himmelreich of Garland, TX, and Donna Marie Payden of Coffeyville. She was a loving grandmother to four granddaughters, six grandsons, and thirteen great grandchildren. Elsie was preceded in death by her loving husband William ChesterChet Cornett on October 6, 1999 after 51 years of marriage. They were united in marriage on November 30th, 1948 and made their home in Coffeyville, KS as lifelong residents. She worked at Red Cross Meals on Wheels for 14 years until medical retirement in 1990. She loved reading, music and traveling. She had a beautiful singing voice and was self-taught on the piano, guitar, and harmonica. Elsie was a lifelong member of the Church of God of Coffeyville. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at Penwell-Gabels Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 12:00 noon until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to the River of Life Tabernacle of Coffeyville in care of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home.
