Esther Lee Cunningham, 88, of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma passed away Monday, March 7, 2011 at Windsor Place in Coffeyville, Kansas. Esther was born on March 24, 1922 in Mena, Arkansas to Grover and Amanda Smallwood Roach. She grew up in the Opal, AR area where she received her education at Cherry Hill High School. She made her home in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma since 1953. Esther worked as a nurse aide for a short time, was a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell, and worked as a custodian for the South Coffeyville School District. She was a member of the South Coffeyville First Baptist Church. She was a hard worker. Esther enjoyed baking blackberry cobbler, gardening, sewing, crossword puzzles and most of all being a mother and grandmother. She is survived by her sons, Johnny D. Dodson and wife, Mary, Kenneth Roy Cunningham and wife, Christine all of South Coffeyville, OK, Darrel Wayne Cunningham of Jenks, OK daughters, Linda Ruth Morrow of Dewey, OK, Carol Ann Cunningham of South Coffeyville, OK, eight grandchildren and twelve greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Grover and Amanda Roach brothers, Alfred and Felin Roach sisters, Maudie Heath and Annie Liles. Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 11, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at Veterans Patio at Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville, KS. Friends may call on Thursday, March 10, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at PenwellGabel FordWulfBruns Chapel in Coffeyville to sign the guest register. Family will greet friends Thursday, March 10, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
