Esther Mcafee

Esther Allene McAfee, 88, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at CRMC. Esther was born on February 18, 1923 in McLouth, Kansas to Grover C. and Lila M. Shrader Van Druff. She grew up in the McLouth area schools where she received her high school education graduating in 1941. After high school she lived in Kansas City, KS where she worked for a couple years. On July 15, 1944 she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Herman Eugene McAfee in Valley Falls, Kansas. Herman and Esther lived on several ranches in the Kansas and Oklahoma areas throughout their marriage. Most of those years were spent in the Longton and Sedan areas. Esther loved being a wife and mother she raised her children and helped in taking care of their grandchildren. She enjoyed their time on the ranches. To pass time she enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and visiting with family and friends. She is survived by her sons, Richard McAfee of Caney, Kansas, Kenneth McAfee and wife, Vada of Madill, OK daughters, Gloria Carver and husband, Lee of Hugo, OK, Judith Whitson and husband, Bob of Coffeyville, KS brothers, David Van Druff and wife, Claudia of Basehor, KS, Larry Van Druff and wife, Helen of Tonganoxie, KS twelve grandchildren sixteen greatgrandchildren and one greatgreat grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Grover and Lila husband, Herman brothers, Grover C. Van Druff, Jr., Gerald Van Druff and Marlin Van Druff and a sister, Alberta Miller. Friends may call on Friday, March 18, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at PenwellGabel FordWulfBruns Chapel in Coffeyville, Kansas to sign the guest register. Family will greet friends Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. at McLouth Cemetery in McLouth, Kansas. Quisenberry Funeral Home in Tonganoxie, KS will be handling the services.
