Estel Leroy Barber 1920-2005 Estel Leroy Barber, age 84, died Friday evening, January 7, 2005 in Coffeyville Regional Medical Center, Coffeyville, Kansas. He was born September 18, 1920, to Orin and Lettie Neer Barber in Coffeyville, where he lived his entire life. . Mr. Barber and his wife recently celebrated 65 years of marriage. He and Cretta Violet Stephens were married in Claremore, Oklahoma, Dec. 21, 1939. Mr. Barber worked at the Co-Op Refinery for over 40 years, retiring in 1982. He served with the U.S. Army, in the Pacific Theatre, during World War II and was a member of the First Christian Church, VFW and Moose Lodge. Survivors include: His Wife of Coffeyville. Children: Carol and Stan Eli and Ricky and Nikki Barber of Coffeyville. Three Grandsons: Jim Eli of Kansas City, MO. John Eli of Wilton Manors, FL. Jesse Barber of Coffeyville. Two Granddaughters: Kathryn Eli-Schneider of Topeka. Pvt. Kori Beth Barber of Ft. Lewis, WA. Five Great Grandchildren: Abbigail, Alex and Andrew Eli, all of Shawnee. Eli and Ty Schneider of Topeka. Three Sisters: Naomi Dannatt of Coffeyville. Sharon Kay Adams of Independence. Beverly Henry of rural Valeda. Thirteen Nieces and Nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Dale; a brother, Emmett; and a sister, Delores. Calling time will be held from 1:00 P.M. 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel in Coffeyville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel in Coffeyville, Kansas. Pastor David Bycroft will be officiating. Interment will follow at the Penwell-Gabel Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Coffeyville. Military Rites will be conducted by theBig Red One Military Honor Guard of Fort Riley, Kansas. The family has suggested memorial donations to the Charity of the Donors choice and these remembrances may be left at the funeral home.
