Coffeyville resident, Eugene Gene I. Barnhart, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 in Coffeyville. He was 78. Mr. Barnhart was born May 11, 1929 to Avis V. Lowry and Carl M. Barnhart in Wayside, Kansas. He completed his education and graduated from high school. He married Marilyn Bell and later
orced. He married Gail Holder who preceded him in death in 1992. He later married Frederica LeRoy and she survives of the home. Mr. Barnhart worked at the Coffeyville refinery for over 35 years. He was a member of the St. Pauls Episcopal Church and served on the Vestry. He worked in the thrift shop and was involved in various church activities. Genes hobbies were gardening, lawn work and working with gadgets. Survivors include his wife; sons, Jack and wife, Delores Barnhart of Pomona, Kansas and Rick and wife, Kathy Barnhart of Havana, Kansas; daughter, Lucinda and husband, Bryan Mecom of Coffeyville; brother, Ray and wife, Theresa Barnhart of Independence, Kansas; sister, Kay and husband, Ron Posey of Independence, Kansas; grandchildren, Candice and Donald Bruce, Joshua and Shanda Mecom, Miranda and Andy Gelven, Sarah and Jim Warren, Jordan Mecom and Marlin, Quinten, and Konyln Barnhart and ten great- grandchildren. Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 15, 2007 at at St. Pauls Episcopal Church. Father Jerry Adinolfi will officiate and buril will follow at Penwell-Gabels Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday, September 14, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. till 9:00 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns funeral home to sign the guest register. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Pauls Episcopal Church or Multiple Schlerosis Society. These may be left at the funeral home.
