Evelyn L. Evitts, 91, of Coffeyville, passed away on Thursday September 13, 2012 in the Windsor Place Nursing Center.
Evelyn was born August 19, 1921, in Coffeyville to Harley and Anna Spoonamore Hoggatt. She married Robert Glen Evitts in 1941. She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, was a soloist and was a member of the Matinee Musicale. She was an avid gardener and took pride in her roses. She was a great cook and loved to ride horseback when she was younger. She had a wonderful sense of humor which was taken from her father.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother Harley J. Hoggatt.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons David Lewis Evitts of Coffeyville, Ks, and Donald G. Evitts of Overland Park, Ks, her daughter Judith A. Furry of Tulsa, Ok, and a brother James A. Hoggatt and his wife Darlene of Coffeyville.
A graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday September 19, 2012 with Mike Graham, Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Chaplain, officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home. The family has entrusted FordWulfBruns Funeral Home with the arrangements.
