EVERETT SHORTY E. WATTS 1915-2005 Everett Shorty E. Watts, age 89, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away early Tuesday morning, August 2, 2005 at the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center in Coffeyville. He was born December 1, 1915 in Crawford City, Nebraska to Hosia Guy and Hazel Marie Watts. He served in the United States Army during World War II from February 19, 1943 to November 20, 1945. He married Mary Lucille Mitchell in 1970 in Independence, Kansas. He was a groundskeeper for the Coffeyville Country Club for thirteen years. He also worked at Coffeyville Roof and Tile. He attended the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Coffeyville and was a member of the United Brick and Clay Workers. He is survived by his wife, Mary, of Windsor Place of Coffeyville, Kansas; one son, Vernon Eugene Watts of San Diego, California; one step-son, Luby Alton Gurley of Coffeyville, Kansas; one daughter, Hazel Watts of Ft. Madison, Iowa; two step-daughters, Linda Long of Dearing, Kansas and Judy Prince of Heathsville, Virginia; nine step-grandchildren and twenty-seven step-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one step-son, Rayford Wilton Gurley. Visitation will be held from 8:00 a.m to 8:00 p.m, Friday, August 5, 2005 with family receiving friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf Bruns Chapel in Coffeyville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 6, 2005 at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf Bruns Chapel in Coffeyville. Military rites will be conducted by the Ft. Riley Big Red One Honor Guard from Ft. Riley, Kansas. Interment will follow at the Penwell-Gabel Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family has suggested memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association and these remembrances may be left at the funeral home.
