Fern Campbell, 87, Coffeyville, Kansas, died Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at her home. Fern was born May 15, 1924 at Coffeyville to Elmer Lee Murray and Florence Mae Straughn Murray. She grew up and spent most of her life in Coffeyville, except for short times spent in other locations, following her husbands railroad work. Fern married Clifford Campbell on July 7, 1943 at Nowata, Oklahoma. Clifford preceded her in death on June 6, 2005. She was a member of the First Assembly of God in Coffeyville for more than 60 years. Fern loved cooking for her family and friends, writing poetry and playing guitar and singing. She was very active in her church and enjoyed helping with the church dinners. Survivors include her brother, Lee Murray and his wife, Barbara of Newton, Kansas nieces, Patricia OHara and her husband, Tom of Enid, Oklahoma and Debora Shaw and her husband, Steve of Newton as well as several greatnieces and greatnephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, as well as, a brother, Henry Murray and her twin sister, Faye Murray. Graveside funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Coffeyvilles Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Randy DePriest officiating. Services and interment are under the direction of PenwellGabel FordWulfBruns Chapel. Visitation will be Friday, 9am8pm and until service time Saturday. Family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society and donations can be left with PenwellGabel Funeral Home amp Crematory.
