Florence Hafford

Florence Julia Upton Hafford 1913 2007 Florence Julia Upton Hafford, age 93, Coffeyville resident went to be with her Lord on Saturday 3rd of March after a lengthy illnesses. Florence was born in Mangum, Oklahoma on September 7, 1913 to Henry and Fannie Ross Walling. She attended Coffeyville Schools. She was employed at Kress Dept. Store of Coffeyville as a Sales Clerk. She was also a homemaker. She married George A. Upton, Sr. in July of 1931 in Independence, Kansas. Mr. Upton preceded her in death 1932. She later married O.H. Hafford in July of 1934 in Independence, Kansas and they operated the Superior Studio and later Hacks Photography in Coffeyville. Mr. Hafford preceded her in death in December of 1997. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in which her early years she taught Sunday School and sang in the Church Choir. The Church was her Foundation for life. She loved the beauty of the outdoors and wrote poetry commending Gods handiwork. Survivors include her brother, Harold Walling, Coffeyville and her sister Frances M. Evans of Abilene, Texas. Her son, George Hafford of Grand Prairie, Texas. Three Grandsons, Randy Hafford of Sequin, Texas, George Hafford, Jr. of Lockport, NY, Darrell DeVaun of Arlington, Texas. Five Great Grand Children and Seven Great Great Grandchildren. Calling hoursVisitation: Mrs. Hafford will lie in state on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 and Wednesday, March 7, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., Family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville. Graveside Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 8, 2007 at the Robbins Cemetery. Dr. Wayne Norton of the First Baptist Church will be officiating.
