Floyd Quintin McAfee, 71, Coffeyville, Kansas, died Monday afternoon in Topeka, Kansas. Floyd was born September 10, 1939 at Wann, Oklahoma to Ray McAfee and Vera Hadley McAfee. He came to Coffeyville at an early age and received his education there. Floyd was a graduate of Field Kindley High School. Shortly after graduation, he went to work for Fitch Ambulance. Floyd was a certified EMT, but during the course of his life, also worked as a cab driver, security guard and foundry worker at Morrow Foundry in Coffeyville. He married Mary Vaughan on September 28, 1973 at Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Floyd attended church services at the Coffeyville Salvation Army and enjoyed tinkering with his pickup, watching TV and spending time with the grandkids. Survivors include his wife, Mary of the home five sons, Darrell Atkins of Buffalo, Missouri, Johnny Atkins and his wife, Lillie, also of Buffalo, Glenn Atkins of Wann, Dennis and Bill Atkins of Parsons, Kansas three sisters, Barbara Reeves and her husband, Bob, Tammy Raver and her husband, Kevin and Sherry Beard and husband, Bobby, all of Coffeyville one brother, Frank McAfee and his wife, Tina of Coffeyville 22 grandchildren and 41 greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard McAfee. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m., Monday, March 7, 2011 at PenwellGabel FordWulfBruns Chapel with Kevin OConner officiating.
