Freda Ann Hulet

For 96 years, Freda Ann Hulet lived! On June 25, 2024 Freda opened her eyes in heaven and began her eternal life.

Freda was born on September 2, 1927, to James Z Sr. and Opal Ruth (Pool) Maritt in Coffeyville Kansas. She attended schools in Coffeyville Kansas, and earned her high school education from Field Kindley High School.

On September 27th, 1944 she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Bob Hulet, at the United Brethren Church in Coffeyville, Kansas now known as the Trinity United Methodist Church. The couple made their home in Coffeyville until 2013, when they moved to rural Edna Kansas.

Freda worked at the ammunition plant in Parsons, Kansas. She then worked beside her husband, who opened and operated Hulet Wood Products, selling wood furniture and custom pieces for twenty five years.

More than anything else, Freda loved spending time with her family. In the 1970s, they began building a cabin on Grand Lake in Oklahoma for the entire family to enjoy, and they spent many wonderful years on or in that lake. In her later years, Freda made it a point to stay in touch with as many of her family members as possible. One of her favorite things to do was to make greeting cards and send them to her loved ones. She also hand-painted Christmas ornaments, sewed various items as gifts, and even made clothing for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Freda was a very sweet and kind person, who leaves behind a legacy of love, both for her family and fellow man, but also for her savior, Jesus Christ.

Freda was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings (Helen, James, Orlin, Dan, Dean, and Bobby), her only child, Janet Elaine Garner in 2002, and her husband, Bob in 2014.

Surviving to honor her memory are her grandchildren, Kim and Trent Tatman of Edna, Kansas, Melanie Adkins of St. Marys, Georgia, Jordan and Paige Garner of Aubrey, Texas, great grandchildren, Micha and Matt Bastian, Sydney Brown, Bobby Tatman, Ila Tatman, Madison Adkins, Morgan Adkins, great-great-Grandson William Welsey Bastian, and sisters-in-law Virginia Maritt and Karen Maritt of Coffeyville, Kansas, as well as many in her extended family, and friends that were like family, and her church family, all of whom she cared for deeply.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel in Coffeyville, Kansas at 10am.
