Frederick "Fred" Lamb Jr.

Fredrick “Fred” G. Lamb Jr. of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma passed away at the age of 77 on December 23, 2020 at CRMC in Coffeyville, Kansas with his family by his side.

Fredrick G. Lamb Jr. was born on November 28, 1943 to Frederick G. Lamb Sr. and Rose Mae (Durbin) Lamb in Berkeley, California.  At a young age the Lamb family moved to Frederick, Kansas where he attended grade school.  In his junior high and high school years the family moved to Cherryvale, Kansas where joined the “Home of The Fighting Cherries” and graduated from Cherryvale High School. As and older adult he obtained his bachelor’s degree in Theology alongside his friend, Johnathan Filson; from the Lake Charles Baptist University.

On March 23, 1962 Fred married the love of his life, Velda Enloe.  Together they shared their home in Coffeyville and in 1975 they moved to South Coffeyville to their forever home. Fred loved and cherished his wife, Velda of 58 years. Fred loved her just as scripture said he should; he loved her with every ounce of his being just like Jesus loves the church.  The shared many wonderful memories, like all families they have had their share of heartaches, but love stood the test of time.

Fred loved life, he was a good, good husband, dad, grandpa, friend and pastor.  He pastored the Lone Cherry Baptist Church in Havana for around 20 years.  He also loved to sing, and he wasn’t like his son he did not enjoy that “Funky Music”.  He was a member of the First Baptist Churchman’s Quartet after he retired from pastoring. While pastoring and raising his family he was a full-time machinist for Magic Circle in Coffeyville for over 40 years when he retired.  Fred was also a South Coffeyville Fire Department fire fighter for 20 plus years and served as chief the last six of his service to the community. He enjoyed wood working, attending his sons’ sporting events and he could be heard cheering them on and correcting them at the same time.  His real enjoyment came when the grandchildren started arriving and never missed any of their events if he had any control of the situation.  He felt truly blessed by his great grandchildren and loved to watch them grow.

Fred listened to Jesus’ instructions and he loved the Lord his God with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his mind.  He served and worshiped God every day of his life.

Separated only by his earthy body his family will one day be reunited; until then he will greatly missed by his wife, Velda of the home; son’s Wade Lamb and his wife Tia, Tony Lamb and his wife Pam, Mike Lamb and his wife Barbara; daughter-in-law, Tammy Lamb; son-in-law, Rockey Allison; nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and one soon to arrive; extended family and friends.   He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, John and Paul Lamb; son, Robin Lamb; daughter, Karon Allison and great granddaughter, Harper Jo; great grandson, Cooper Wade.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, December 28, 2020 at 1 pm at the South Coffeyville First Baptist Church, on the corner of 5th and Shawnee, Pastor Johnathan Filson will officiate.  Burial will follow at Mount Washington Cemetery in Lenapah.  The service will be available on Facebook Live. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, Ks from 2 to 4 pm.  The family has requested memorial contribution be made payable to the South Coffeyville First Baptist Church in Fred’s memory and may be left in care of the chapel.  To leave a memory or an online message of condolence visit www.fordwulfbrunschapel.com
