Gene Arnett

Gene Arnett was born on July 22, 1930, in Knox, Indiana. He passed away, due to colon cancer, at the age of 85, on Dec. 20, 2015. Mr. Arnett was a resident of Medicalodges of Coffeyville, Kansas, when he passed.

Gene grew up in South Bend, and served in the U.S. Army for two years and then joined the U.S. Airforce, where he served as a pilot. He was stationed in Japan and England. In England he met and married his first wife, Maureen Hopkinson, who preceded him in death. They had three children; Mike Arnett (Debra) of Charlotte, S.C.; Lorraine Arnett Soos of South Bend, and Tracy Arnett of South Bend.

Later in life, Gene met and married Nancy Aleshir and they have a son, Dee Arnett (Bobbie) of Elkhart.

Mr. Arnett is survived by his children, five grandchildren, and two great granddaughters.

Gene was preceded in death by his mother, Lula Skaggs Arnett, and his father, William Tad Arnett of Lakeville, his three brothers, Dempsey, Howard and Charles, and his sister, Carol Maurer. He is survived by two sisters, Iris Ayer (Robert) of South Bend, and Mary Etta Brown (Al) of Mishawaka.

Mr. Arnett was an automobile enthusiast, and never met a car he could not fix. He was an avid reader and science fiction buff. He could figure out anything mechanical and loved to help his friends.
