GEORGE B. CAMPBELL George B. Campbell, age 96, of Coffeyville, Kansas died Tuesday morning, June 05, 2007 at Medicalodge Nursing Home of Coffeyville. Mr. Campbell was born on February 11, 1911 in Anna, Illinois to Franklin and Ellen Annie Musgrave Campbell. His family moved to Jonesboro, Illinois when he was quite young and he got his education there. He graduated from Anna-Jonesboro High School and attended Southern Illinois Teachers College, where he received his teaching certificate. He taught in a school just south of Jonesboro. In 1931 he married Edith Loreen Hill and they moved to Coffeyville, where he began working at the National Refining Company later Co-Op Refinery, retiring 42 12 years later. He joined his wife and son in the First Christian Church, where he served as Deacon, Elder, Chairman of the Board, Chairman of the Evangelism Committee and sang in the choir for over 40 years. The highlight of his church work was serving Mound Valley Christian Church as pastor for 7 12 years, while working full time at the refinery. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, his parents, four brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his son, Bryan, of Coffeyville and two granddughters, Elizabeth of Lawrence, Kansas and Suzanne of Kansas City, Kansas. Visitation hours for George will be from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, June 7, 2007 at the Penwell-Gabel Ford Wulf Bruns Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 8, 2007 at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel with Reverend J.E. Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabels Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family has suggested memorial contributions to the First Christian Church. Memorials may be left with the funeral home.
