George F. Myers, 89, Coffeyville, Kansas, died Friday afternoon, September 11, 2009 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. George was born June 13, 1920 at Limerick, Maine to George M. Myers and Lulla Mae Woods Myers. He grew up in Maine, graduating high school from there. George was a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving in the Western Pacific during World War II. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant and was honorably discharged from military service in December 1945. George farmed and worked as a mechanic for Kugler Implement. He lived north of Tyro, Kansas for over 50 years. On October 20, 1972, George married Delores Williamson at Miami, Oklahoma. The couple would later move to Coffeyville. George was a member of Tyro Christian Church. Survivors include his wife, Delores, of the home; two sons, Steve Myers of Tyro, Kansas and David Myers of Dearing, Kansas; one daughter, Katherine Beiter and her husband, Terry of Independence, Kansas; one step-son, Marshall Kriebel and his wife, Debbie of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; two step-daughters, Dy Kleier and her husband, John of Tyro and Gloria Garretson and her husband, Ronnie of Coffeyville; several grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and children, Clinton, Lillie and Marvin Jr. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, Coffeyville, with Evangelist David Bycroft officiating. Interment will be in Fawn Creek Cemetery, north of Tyro, under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. with the family receiving guests from 6-8 p.m. Family suggests that friends donate to the American Cancer Society.
