George Aaron Neal was born to Nathaniel and Minnie Wilson Neal on July 28, 1912 in Coffeyville, Kansas. He was the fourth child of ten born to this union. On April 7, 2011, he was called by our Lord and Savior to receive his reward. George received his education from Cleveland Elementary, Roosevelt Junior High and Field Kindley High School. On October 8, 1934, he married Olivia Patt and to this union they were blessed with two children, Slyenthus and Madeleine. He was a devoted husband to his wife for 73 years. He retired after 35 years with ShermanWilliams in 1977. George was an ambitious man building his first home for his family in 1973 at 502 E. 1st with the best manicured lawn and garden on the Eastside of Coffeyville. Along with his two brothers, Nathaniel and Wendell, he owned and operated the Neals Lounge. He served as a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge 70, held a seat on the Board of Director of the 3C Credit Union, served on the Calvary Baptist Usher Board, and was a Ritz Club member. George was a very energetic and an outgoing person. He had many fishing buddies and traveled extensively with his older brother Leonard. Not a day went by that you did not see George Papa working in his wellmanicured yard. Steven Sharnette McAlester, Bryon Kimberly McAlester, Jane Lane fifteen greatgrandchildren Dion, Shanika, Reginald, Darrell Jr., Domonic, Josh, Chasae Neal Nicole Young, Chadwick and Stephen McIntosh, Jevon and Ashley Robinson, Anshanay and Steven Jr. McAlester, Kennedy Lane twentyone greatgreat grandchildren one sister Catherine Robert Curry and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his wife Olivia Patt Neal, daughter Madeleine Neal McAlester, his parents, five brothers and four sisters. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Coffeyville39s First Church of God in Christ. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of PenwellGabel FordWulfBruns Chapel. Visitation will be held Wednesday, noon8 p.m. at the funeral home.
