Gerald RobertJerry North, 77, South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, passed away Monday afternoon, January 17, 2011 at his home. Jerry was born November 9, 1933 at Picher, Oklahoma to Clarence R. North and Flossie Moore North. He left Picher and moved with his family to California as a young boy and came to Coffeyville, Kansas as a teenager. Jerry married Donna Light on January 25, 1953 at Coffeyville. The couple moved to Fullerton, California, where Jerry worked as the lead custodian for the Fullerton Schools for 28 years. The Norths moved back to Kansas, first Chetopa, then Coffeyville, before settling in South Coffeyville nine years ago. Jerry loved camping and fishing, quail hunting and rabbit hunting. He enjoyed spending time withthe kids and was a Scout Master while living in California. Jerry was a member of the American Legion. Survivors are his wife, Donna of the home three nephews raised in the home, Kerry Armstrong of Glenwood, New Mexico, Paul Armstrong of Chetopa and Josh Armstrong and his wife, Angela and daughters, Madison and Mallory one brother, Leon North and his wife, June of Welch, Oklahoma and several nieces and nephews that referred to him asGrandpa. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and by one brother, Waymond North. A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 22, 2011 at PenwellGabel FordWulfBruns Chapel with Raymond North officiating. Friends may sign the register book at the funeral home, Friday, 8am5pm. The family suggests that friends donate to Hope Hospice in memory of Jerry. Donations may be left at the funeral home.
