Gerald Raymond Perry, age 93, of Lakeland, Florida, passed away on November 3, 2016.
Gerald (Jerry) was born to J.E. and Hazel (Hills) Perry in Cedar Vale, KS. Funeral services will be on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 11:00a.m. at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, with Pastor Wendell Abbott of Nowata Church of God officiating. Interment will follow at Robbins Cemetery. Friends are invited to sign the register and greet the family on Saturday November 12, 2016 from 10:00am to service time.
The family suggests memorials be made payable to Coffeyville Friends of Animals and they may be sent in care of the Chapel 2405 Woodland Ave. Coffeyville, KS 67337.
Jerry was reared and educated in Cedar Vale and Arkansas City. He married Blossom L. Davis on February 9, 1943. After serving in the United States Army, he and Blossom settled in Coffeyville, KS, they had four children and established Perry Office Machines in the early 50's and 60's. They participated in the local Jaycees, Kiwanis, and Chamber of Commerce. They were members of the First Christian Church. The couple later divorced after 20 years of marriage.
He then had various business adventures including antiques and real estate in Texas and North Carolina. Jerry married Margaret Smith Perry and they enjoyed 30 years of marriage, traveling throughout the United States, making their home in Lakeland, Florida. He was a voracious reader of history, national news, concerned for Veterans and the less fortunate. Being a Perry he was musically inclined, loved music, dancing, dogs, and he always planted trees where he lived.
Those left honoring his memory are, his wife Margaret Perry, children, Tana Neal, Kenneth Perry his wife Teresa, Steve Perry his wife Sharon, and Connie Williamson, grandchildren, Kip Neal, Amber Perry, Carmen Perry, Austin Perry, Paige Perry, MacKenzie Perry, Lezlie Ford, and Chuck Williamson, great-grandchildren, Vince Neal, Audrey Brewster, Andrew Fisher and Katie Fisher, step-children, Glenn Smith, Rodney Smith, Diane Johnson, Karen Hartigan, and Brenda Prabhabar, brothers, Don Perry and Charlie Perry, caregiver and friend, Sandi Priest, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Blossom Perry, sisters, Maxine (Sis) Earl and Marie Shipp, brothers, Carl Perry and Bub Perry, Step-children, Shirley Smith and Larry Smith.
