Gertrude Elizabeth Ward, 95, Overland Park, Kansas passed away November 20, 2009 at her home. Graveside services will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville, Kansas December 1, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Mrs. Ward was born November 12, 1914 in Elida, New Mexico to Eugene and Agnes Taylor. Mrs. Ward attended Independence schools and Wayne University in Detroit, Michigan. Gertrude took violin lessons in the Detroit Conservatory of Music for one summer. She married Roy Ward in Nowata, Oklahoma on July 11, 1935. They were married 64 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Methodist Women, Eastern Star, Entre Nous Study Club, and Hillcrest Golf Club. Her hobbies included golf, painting, sewing and crafts. Gertrude is survived by daughter Gayle of Overland Park, KS, daughter-in-law Irene Ward, three children, Carrie OBrien Brett, Anne McNabney and Matthew McNabney Laura, four great grandchildren, Christine, Eva, Aaron and Adam. Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband Roy, her parents, three sisters, one brother and her son Gerald. The family would like to thank Care Alternatives Hospice for their compassionate care.
