Gladys Elsheimer 1923 2007 Coffeyville resident Gladys Elsheimer entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 24, 2007 at her oldest daughters home. She was 83. Gladys had resided at Joans home since September of 2006. Gladys was born October 30, 1923 in Houston County, Minnesota to William and Gertrude Arndt Neumann. As a child she attended school in Houston County, Minnesota. Her local school teacher would stay in their home during the school year which she loved very much. She later received her High School Diploma from the Adult Education Center in Coffeyville. On May 21, 1943 she married Carl Elsheimer in Houston County, Minnesota. He preceded her in death May 28, 2004. Mrs. Elsheimer was a homemaker and most of all, a mother. Gladys also showed love, compassion and cared for many other families in the community. Gladys also helped Carl in his business endeavors. Mrs. Elsheimer was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Coffeyville, where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years. Gladys helped with the Church Nursery on Sunday. Gladys was instrumental in starting the Thrift Store at the Trinity United Methodist Church which she enjoyed very much. She also attended the Tyro United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and spending time with her loving grandchildren. Gladys was an avid stamp collector. Survivors include: 4 Daughters, Joan Darby Dale, Gail Norton Wayne, Karen Pyle Joe and Janet Cooke Tim. One son, David Elsheimer Ronda all of the Coffeyville area. Nine grandchildren and one great granddaughter. One sister, Edna Elsheimer Walter of Houston County, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents, one infant daughter, Darlene Elsheimer, one brother, Donald Neumann and one sister, Bernice Schultz. Visitation calling hours: Mrs. Elsheimer will lie in state on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at the Robbins Cemetery rural Coffeyville, Kansas. Family and friends will gather at the graveside prior to services. Pastor Dan Carr and Dr. Wayne Norton will be officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to the Trinity UMC, First Baptist Church both of Coffeyville or Tyro UMC in lieu of flowers. co Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home.
