Gloria McDougle Grigsby 1945-2006 Gloria Adaline McDougle Grigsby, age 61 passed away on Monday morning, September 4, 2006 at her residence from cancer. Gloria was born, July 26, 1945 in Pascagoula, Mississippi to Luther Mcdougle and Irene Grissette McDougle. She married Drake Kenneth Grigsby on May 9, 1970 in Aurora, Ilinois along with their best friends James Yarbro deceased and Jeanette Byrd Yarbro. Drake, Gloria, Kecia and Kimberly moved to and made their home in Coffeyville, Ks in 1979. Gloria spent her formative years in Mississippi. After moving to Aurora, IL, she attended East Aurora High School, and graduated in 1963. She attended two years at Coffeyville Community College and graduated from Pittsburg State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1989 along with her two daughters receiving their Bachelors as well. Gloria gave USD 445, 18 years inspired by her beloved mother-in-law and family. The students that she touched through those years knew her as Mrs. G. They also knew the sayings Excuses AreThe Nails That Build Houses Of Failure and If It Is To Be, Its Up To Me. Gloria was NEA-C President 1994-95. She served on the KNEA Brard of Directors as Ethnic Minorty Representive for four years. She was in the Leadership Coffeyville Class of 1997. She served on the Uni-Serv Southeast Ad Board from 1995-2000. She was Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year 2005-2006. Gloria attended and was a member of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church where she served on the Usher Board. She was a member of the Golden Circle Chapter 31-OES, VFW Post 1022 Womens Auxiliary and Alpha Delta Kappa. Glorias athletic sport was bowling. She enjoyed quilting with co-workers and friends as a special hobby. Her backyard flower gardens were her retirement from the world. A woman with a golden heart, soul, and devout faith, she is survived by her husband, Drake at the home in Coffeyville, Ks; two children Kecia Dane Grigsby McDonald of Wichita, Ks; Kimberly Denise Grigsby of East Dundee, IL; three grandchildren: Chase Dalyn McDonald, Camden Drake McDonald, and Naomi Denise Grigsby-Bailey; mother: Irene Grissette of Aurora, IL; one brother: Luther Debra McDougle of Batavia, IL; uncle father Reuben Thomas Grissette of Elgin, IL; and a host of step brothers and sisters, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 23, 2006, 11:00 AM at the USD 445 Community Elementary School. Pastor Sandra K. Radford will be officating.
