Gordon Jones

Gordon Dale Jones South Coffeyville resident Gordon Dale Jones entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, May 30, 2007 in Coffeyville. He was 85. Gordon was born on September 7, 1921 in rural Nowata County to George E. and Ollie Mae Witwer Jones. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Field Kindley Memorial High School. On December 28, 1944 he married Lydia Clara Hollmann in Coffeyville. The couple made their home in the Coffeyville area. He had worked at several business including Southwest Ice Company, Hargrove Auto Supply, Frazier Seed Company and Asgrow Seed. Mr. Jones operated the EFD Freight Company for many years. He was a member of the Saint Pauls Lutheran Church of Coffeyville. Survivors include a son and daughter in law, Sherman and Kim Jones of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, grandchildren Amy and Troy Graefe, Lauri Mayfield, Sara and Adam Thomasson, Jeff Jones, Brad and Lori Compston and Scott Compston. Great-grandchildren are Caitlin and Megan Graefe, Braden and Madison Mayfield, Jacy Thomasson, Garrett and Sophie Compston. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lydia Clara Jones on December 3, 1997, a daughter Janet Jones Compston and two brothers Minnis and Gail Jones and a sister Doris Beam. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 6, 2007 in the Saint Pauls Luthern Church in Coffeyville. Pastor Richard Peckman will officiate and burial will follow in the Penwell-Gabels Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call on on Tuesday, June 5, 2007 from 9 am until 9 pm at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Home to sign the guest register.
