Gregory Smith

Gregory S.Greg Smith, 63, Coffeyville, Kansas, died Friday, February 25, 2011 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. Greg was born November 3, 1947 at Coffeyville to Grady Smith and AnnaBelle Schmidt Smith. He spent his lifetime as a Coffeyville resident, graduating from Field Kindley High School, class of 1965. Greg also attended Coffeyville Junior College. He worked as a small tool mechanic and buffer for Stapleton Products in Coffeyville until health issues forced his retirement in 1976. He married Deborah Strimple at Independence, Kansas in 1976. Greg was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and enjoyed riding motorcycles and traveling, especially to Las Vegas. His knack for fixing anything led him to rebuilding cars. He enjoyed being outdoors, in the woods and mountains of Colorado and raising his own flowers and gardening. Greg loved spending time with his family, too. Survivors are his wife, Deborah of the home three daughters, Jennifer Garrison and her husband, Sean of Wichita, Kansas, Carrie Smith of Lawrence, Kansas and Kaci Smith of Coffeyville and four grandchildren, Alyssa Garrison, Nicholas Garrison, Treyvin HayesSmith and Kacin HayesSmith. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, Donnie is 2001. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held 2pm, Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at PenwellGabel FordWulfBruns Chapel with Father Ben Nguyen officiating. Interment will follow in Liberty Cemetery under the direction of PenwellGabel Funeral Home amp Crematory. A rosary will take place 7pm, Tuesday at the funeral home, followed by a celebration of life for Greg. Those who wish may give to the Holy Name Church or the Coffeyville Friends of Animals, and donations may be left at the funeral home.
