H. Russell Moss Coffeyville resident H. Russell Moss entered into eternal rest on Monday, November 19, 2007 in Coffeyville. He was 95. H. Russell was born December 4, 1911 in Mount Moriah, Missouri to Thomas Joseph and Susan Jane Large Moss. He grew up and attended school in Trenton, Missouri. He married Sylvia Mae McCollum on May 31, 1930 in Trenton. They made their home in the Trenton area and later Kansas City Kansas and to Chanute, Kansas. They settled in Coffeyville in 1951. He had worked for Nevels Manufacturing Co. in Kansas City, Missouri; Continental Can in Coffeyville and he owned and operated his own Saddle Shop which he started in the 1940s in Kansas City, Kansas. He retired around 2002. He enjoyed such hobbies as teaching children to ride horses and trick riding. He enjoyed trail riding, rodeos, drill teams and square dancing on horseback. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. H. Russell was a member of the Church of God in Coffeyville. He was also a member of the Wyandotte County Sheriffs Posse. He was a charter member of the Posse. He was also their drill team manager. He was a trainer for Roy Knapps Rough Riders and started his own group called Russells Juvenile Riders in Raytown, Missouri in the 1940s. He often took ponies to the childrens hospital in Kansas City to let the children ride and observe the tricks. He is survived by his daughter Juanita Robson of Coffeyville. Grandchildren are Robert and wife Laura Robson, Russell and wife Connie Robson, Rodney and wife Carla Robson all of Coffeyville; Randy and wife Jane Robson of Topeka, Kansas; Rick and wife Kim Robson of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Regina and husband Jeffery Springer of Huntsville, Texas. There are 13 great-grandchildren and their spouses. There are 5 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. On November 23, 1963 he was preceded in death by his wife Sylvia. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, November 23, 2007 at Maple Grove Cemetery in Trenton, Missouri. Friends may call on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 from 9 am until 9 pm at Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Home to sign the guest register. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 pm until 8 pm. Memorials may be made to the Special Olympics of Kansas. These may be left with the funeral home.
