Harland LeeCowboy Cain, 78, Coffeyville, Kansas, died Tuesday morning, February 15, 2011 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. Harland was born September 16, 1932 at Coffeyville to Virn Lee Cain and Mary Jane Timmerman Cain. He grew up in Coffeyville and received his education there. Harland married Lola K. Presgrove on November 27, 1958 at Coffeyville. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Army. After receiving his honorable discharge, Harland returned to Coffeyville and was employed by Coffeyville Brick Plant and was a furniture mover for Coffeyville Transfer and Storage. He later worked for Kopco of Caney and in 1957, went to work in the Maintenance Department of SherwinWilliams Company, retiring in 2000. Harland was a member of Coffeyvilles First Baptist Church and served as bus driver for Coffeyville First Assembly of God for many years. He was a musician, songwriter and singer and enjoyed pickin and grinnin with his mandolin. Survivors include his wife, Lola of the home one daughter, Cathy Cain of Coffeyville three brothers, Harold Lloyd Cain of Dearing, Kansas, Howard Cain of Coffeyville and Harvey Cain and his wife, Ruthie of Portland, Oregon one sister, Hermenia Louise Woodrum of Washington and many nieces and nephews, including Teresa Presgrove of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents by two brothers, Hubert and Herman Cain and by five sisters, Hilda Hubernick, Hazel Purcell, Helen Stewart, Hester Johnson and Harriett Freidline. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 19, 2011 at PenwellGabel FordWulfBruns Chapel with the Reverends Randall Terrill and Randy DePriest officiating. Interment will be in Fawn Creek Cemetery, north of Tyro, Kansas under the direction of PenwellGabel Funeral Home amp Crematory. Visitation will be 9 a.m. 8 p.m., Friday with the family receiving friends at the funeral home from 68 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church and donations may be left at the funeral home.
