Harland L. Wright, 85, Coffeyville, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2005,at Windsor Place in Coffeyville, Kansas. He was born December 26, 1919, in Howden, Oklahoma, the son of Joseph and Bertha Snelson Wright. As a child he grew up on several farms in Nowata County, Oklahoma being raised by his grandparents John and Mattie Snelson. He has lived in Coffeyville, Kansas most of his life. On May 4, 1937, he married May Belle Sprague in Coffeyville, Kansas. She survives. Harland worked as a truck driver delivering freight for Campbell 66 Express for many years. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served in W.W. II. After serving in the U.S. Navy, he was engaged in farming until 1949. He attended the Church of God in Coffeyville with his wife May Belle. He was also a member of the V.F.W. Post 1022 in Coffeyville. He was preceded in death by a grandson. Survivors include: Wife: May Belle 2 Sons: Linford Linny Wright and his wife Nancy Coffeyville, Kansas Frank E Gene Wright and his wife Linda rural Montgomery County, Kansas 3 Daughters: Shirley Harris and husband Jack Quapaw, Oklahoma Darlene Bates and husband Harry Coffeyville, Kansas Patricia Pat Crittenden and husband James Siloam Springs, Arkansas 20 Surviving Grandchildren 32 Great Grandchildren 1 Great Great Grandchild A funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 22, 2005, at the Church of God. Burial will follow the service at the Penwell-Gabel Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Wright will lie in state from 8:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Church of God left in care of the funeral home.
