Harold Hopson

Harold Gene Hopson, 78, Stroud, Oklahoma and formerly of Coffeyville, Kansas, died Monday, September 5, 2011 at Rainbow Healthcare Center, Bristow, Oklahoma. Harold was born October 25, 1932 at Franklin, Arkansas to Jeffie D. Hopson and Emogene Pryor Hopson. He left Franklin as a boy and came to Sand Springs, Oklahoma, where he graduated high school and went to work in a cotton factory. Harold married Norma Jean Slaton on November 17, 1962 at Drumright, Oklahoma. The Hopsons moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where Harold worked for the City of Tulsas Water amp Sewer Treatment Plant. The Hopson family then moved to Mannford, Oklahoma and Harold worked for the Water amp Sewer Plant, 13 years before retiring. In 2003, the couple moved to Coffeyville and lived there until moving to Stroud in 2011. Harold was a member of Coffeyvilles Church of Christ and loved fishing and bird watching. He was a wonderful man and the heart of his family. He will be remembered as a strong worker and provider, who loved his grandkids. Survivors are his wife, Norma of the home one son, Mike Hopson and his wife, Susan of Stroud a daughter, Gina Carter and her husband, Layle of Sand Springs a sister, Ella Mae Martin of Ava, Missouri and four grandchildren, Cody and Emily Carter of Sand Springs and Tate Crauthers and Drake Hopson of Stroud. Harold was preceded in death by his parents and by a son, Tim Hopson in 1990. Funeral service will be 2pm, Friday, September 9, 2011 at Coffeyvilles Church of Christ with Pastor Clint Howard officiating. Interment will follow in Coffeyvilles Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of PenwellGabel FordWulfBruns Chapel. Visitation will be 9am 8pm, Thursday at the funeral home.
