Hazel Viola Burke Kath, 91 of Arkansas City, KS passed away Friday, March 21, 2008 at the Caney Nursing Center in Caney, KS. Hazel was born on August 11, 1916 in McPherson, KS, the daughter of Sanford and Ellen Good Burke. She attended school in McPherson. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Arkansas City. Hazel was a cook and volunteered at the Senior Citizen Center in Arkansas City. Surviving to honor her memory are her sisters, Elsie Hamilton of Arkansas City, KS and Olive Swift of Inman, KS; four children, Vincel Burke of Parsons, KS, Jim Hunt of Pawhuska, OK, Gary Spears of Niotaze, KS, and Anna Kitchen of Caney, KS; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Andrew Tate and Maynard Kath; and brother, Bernerd Burke. Private services will take place in McPherson, KS following cremation under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf Bruns Funeral Home of Coffeyville, Kansas.
