Hazel M. Scott formerly of Tyro, Kansas passed away Saturday, March 7, 2009 in Cabot, Arkansas. She was 88. Hazel was born December 30, 1920 to Henry W. and D. Hettie Burt Tuggle in rural Tyro, Kansas. She went to school at Ringo through the 8th grade then went to Tyro for high school, graduating in 1939. On September 2, 1939 she was united in marriage to Lawrence L.Pete Scott, Sr. in Caney, Kansas. They lived in rural Coffeyville until they moved to Tyro in 1973. He preceded her in death October 28, 1995. Hazel was a member of the Tyro Christian Church where she acted as the Secretary and Treasurer of Sunday School since 1947. She spent her time as a homemaker and enjoyed her family and friends. Surviving to honor her memory is her son, Lawrence L. Scott, Jr. and wife Anita of Little Rock, Arkansas; daughter Susan E. Schwartz and husband Mark of Littleton, Colorado; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband Pete and a brother John Henry. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2009 at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel in Coffeyville. Evangelist David Bycroft will officiate. Burial will follow at Fawn Creek Cemetery located northeast of Tyro, KS. Friends may call on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. to sign the guest register. Memorial contributions can be made to the Tyro Christian Church these may be left with the funeral home.
