Helen M. Bell Coffeyville resident, Helen Maxine Bell, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, July 26, 2007 in Coffeyville. She was 90. Helen was born on February 22, 1917 in Erie, Kansas to Virl and Maude Blaine Heady. She was a 1935 graduate of Erie High School. She attended Parsons Junior College, graduating in 1937. On July 16, 1937 she married Melvin Bell in Chaunte, Kansas. They were married for 55 years when Mr. Bell preceded Helen in death on August 9, 1992. Mrs. Bell lived in the southeast Kansas area her entire life. She was retired as the owner operator of a furniture store and motel in Iola, Kansas. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Keystone Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Art and Liturature Club. Helen is survived by her daughter and husband LouAnn and Bryan Lewis of Fair Hope, Alabama; son and wife , Doug and Marsha Bell of Coffeyville, Kansas; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin; son, Ed Bell; sister, Pearl Fisher and brother, Blaine Heady. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, July 30, 2007 at Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Collins will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date at Neosho County Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute. Memorial contributions may be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. These may be left with the funeral home.
