Helen Riley, 88, Coffeyville, Kansas, died early Friday morning, December 16, 2011 at Windsor Place Care Center. Helen was born September 13, 1923 at Welch, Oklahoma to James Franklin Ingram and Gertrude Sullivan Ingram. She grew up and attended school in Welch and attended college at Northeastern Oklahoma AM at Miami. Helen held a variety of bookkeeping jobs, including positions at Maxson Sales, Dewey Stockyards, Welch Bank and Dans Mobil Station. She retired from the City of Coffeyvilles Water Department Customer Service branch. In January of 1946, Helen married James Riley. Mr. Riley preceded his wife October 16, 2011. Helen was active in her church. She helped build two churches, Bethel Baptist, south of Edna, Kansas and First Southern Baptist of Coffeyville. Helen taught the Dorcas Class and younger classes, as well as working in the nursery. She loved reading, sewing and making Christmas Candy. She is survived by her sons, Morgan Riley and his wife, Debbie of Welch and Amos Riley and his wife, Karen of Independence, Kansas one daughter, Marsha VanDyne of Coffeyville nine grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her parents by her husband and by three brothers, Keith, Kay and Kelly Ingram and by a sister, Mary Nan Williams. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at First Southern Baptist Church of Coffeyville with Rev. Stephen Heslip officiating. Interment will be in Lake Creek Cemetery, Bartlett, Kansas, under the direction of PenwellGabel FordWulfBruns Chapel. Visitation will Monday, 10 a.m.8 p.m. with family receiving guests from 68pm. Donations may be made to First Southern Baptist Church and may be left at the funeral home or with PenwellGabel staff, the day of the service.
